AUA Portuguese Language Program

In an effort to expand our international outreach while providing quality education for international colleagues, the AUA has developed the Portuguese Language Program. This program will be presented in English with simultaneous translation into Portuguese.

This interactive program will include case presentations in the topic areas such as: benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), female urology, erectile dysfunction (ED) and oncology. Attendees will receive detailed handouts, take home messages, and will be able to actively participate through an audience response system.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should understand and be able to meet the following objectives:

  • identify progression of BPH: office evaluation including uroflow, post-void residual and IPSS symptom score
  • review treatment options for BPH: medical and surgical
  • evaluate risk factors of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in females
  • review treatment options for SUI
  • discuss ED: risk factor and treatment modalities
  • discuss prostate cancer screening and detection
  • determine treatment options for localized prostate cancer, including surgery, radiation and minimally invasive techniques
  • evaluate androgen deprivation therapy for advanced prostate cancer: timing, patient selection and side effects
  • discuss renal cell cancer epidemiology, familial risk factors, imaging diagnostic modalities
  • analyze treatment options for localized renal cell cancer including nephron-sparing surgical techniques and targeted therapy
  • review bladder cancer epidemiology and factors.
  • analyze bladder cancer: BCG failure, chemotherapy/chemoradiation and bladder replacement surgery
